Gone Tomorrow is ready to play! After a brief respite from performing a year or two back, Gone Tomorrow has returned to play hard-driving bluegrass music. Based in San Diego, the band plays a wide variety of bluegrass, old-time, and early country music, from Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers, to contemporary bluegrass, Texas swing, and fiddle tunes. Our very first performance featured Richard and Steve, along with Tyler Grant on guitar and Fred Wade on bass. Tyler was soon headed to find his well-deserved fortune as a Nashville musician and Fred was playing with other SoCal bands so the band personnel changed. The band’s first paying gig, in October 2003 with Richard, Steve, Beth, Lisa and John, was as the opening act for David Parmley & Continental Divide. We've even played a gig accompanying a modern dance performance with the San Diego Dance Theatre at the San Diego Museum of Art. We loved playing Summergrass, San Diego's premier bluegrass festival held each year in August. Photos from Gone Tomorrow's performance at Summergrass 2004 are here. The name of the band says it all, and true-to-form there have been a number of personnel changes as musicians come and go. The latest incarnation of Gone Tomorrow includes some of San Diego's best veteran bluegrass performers. We're always having a great time when we're playing music for you. Gone Tomorrow looks forward to playing truly entertaining bluegrass music in unusual places. |
